Orion Health and its Clients, Community Health Information Collaborative and North Dakota Health Information Network, to Present at 2014 AHIMA Convention & Exhibit
Boston, MA – Orion Health, a leading population health management company, today announced that the company was selected to present along with two of its clients at the American Health Information Management Association 2014 Convention & Exhibit (AHIMA 2014) in San Diego, CA. Community Health Information Collaborative (CHIC), Minnesota's state-certified Health Information Organization, and North Dakota Health Information Network (NDHIN), a health information network for providers and consumers, with Benjamin Vigil, senior solution consultant at Orion Health, will be presenting sessions focusing on how health information exchanges (HIE) are enhancing care coordination across communities.
Cheryl Stephens, president and CEO of CHIC, will lead a presentation titled, “How a Health Information Exchange Improves Public Health Agencies,” on October 1st from 8:30 – 9:30 AM PST. During the presentation, Stephens will explain how coordinating care between public health agencies, schools, long-term care facilities and primary care providers can greatly improve population health management and outcomes.
“By engaging all healthcare partners and agencies in our HIE, we have realized tremendous success in more comprehensive care coordination in Minnesota. The anywhere, anytime access to accurate and current data enabled by Orion's technology has supported our efforts in improving quality care,” said Stephens. “We're excited to share our story with the audience at AHIMA and hopefully our experience will inspire other organizations and states to improve population health management and outcomes via the creation of HIEs.”
Sheldon Wolf, health information technology director at NDHIN, and Orion Health's Benjamin Vigil will also lead a presentation at AHIMA titled, “Direct Discussion: Understanding Direct Exchange and its Benefits to Your Organization,” on September 30th from 3:15 – 4:15 PM PST. Wolf and Vigil will provide a complete understanding of Direct exchange, discussing its functions and explaining how to incorporate Direct into healthcare facilities to enhance connectivity and quality of care.
“We're pleased to lead a presentation with NDHIN and showcase their strategies for success. NDHIN is successfully running a robust HIE that benefits from the use of Direct and its full range of capabilities, allowing for improved quality reporting and overall efficiency,” said Vigil. “Our team at Orion Health is on the ground, working with states and healthcare organizations across the country to implement technologies and processes needed to improve care coordination, care quality and better patient outcomes. This event is a great opportunity for our community to collaborate and discuss our efforts in improving population health outcomes.”
